Good Life Research Network
Dr. Davis and Van Tongeren co-founded the Good Life Research Network. This group is focused on gathering people committed to making the early career phase easier to navigate for people interested in the interdisciplinary work on the study of virtues and existential themes. We are experimenting with ways of helping people form professional friendships that enhance the quality of work and make the process more fun and creative. They are connecting mentors, financial partners, and scholars committed to the goals of the network.
HAPPI LAB
Dr. Davis leads the Humility and Positive Psychology Interventions (HAPPI) lab. Many of the research, teaching, and service projects we work on occur within the Seminar for Leadership in Positive Psychology. To get a sense of the kinds of articles we write, see Donnie’s google scholar page. Lab members determine their own projects and have the opportunity to collaborate on projects of other team members. Most people look for projects that are in the area of positive psychology, particularly the study of relational virtues such as humility, forgiveness, and gratitude. Although many of our students want to aim for academic programs, we also often have team members interested in clinical positions (e.g., VA hospitals, private practice, university counseling centers), so we also engage projects related to integrating positive psychology into counseling or psycho-education. Many of these projects fall under the umbrella of studying cultural humility and the multicultural orientation framework.
consulting
Donnie brings his expertise to consulting partnerships. He has consulted with non-profit organizations, for-profit companies, and professional development groups. He tends to prioritize work aligned with his areas of methodological interest (e.g., measurement of virtues, systematic reviews, causal inference), as well as projects that align with the priorities of MSTAR and the Good Life Research Network.
